National Seminar on Democracy and Secularism in the Literary and Media Landscape

Our college successfully organized a National Seminar on “Democracy and Secularism in the Literary and Media Landscape” with the aim of examining the significant role played by literature and media in shaping democratic values and promoting secular ideals in contemporary society. The seminar brought together scholars, media professionals, researchers, and students from various institutions across the country.

The sessions highlighted how literary works and different forms of media act as powerful tools for social awareness, critical thinking, and public discourse. Eminent speakers discussed the representation of democracy, freedom of expression, pluralism, and secularism in literary texts, journalism, cinema, and digital media. The discussions also addressed challenges such as media ethics, misinformation, and the responsibility of writers and media practitioners in a democratic society.

Paper presentations and interactive sessions provided a platform for meaningful academic exchange and encouraged participants to engage critically with current socio-political realities. The seminar fostered a deeper understanding of the literary and media landscape as essential spaces for safeguarding constitutional values and strengthening democratic consciousness.

The seminar concluded with a valedictory session, marking the event as a significant academic initiative that enriched intellectual dialogue and reinforced the relevance of literature and media in upholding democracy and secularism.​
